How Attending The Saint Pablo Tour Made Me Stop Hating Kanye

September 17, 2016

Entertainment media loves to hate Kanye West (a.k.a Mr. West, Yeezy, or Yeezuz). His rants are longs, his antics are odd, and his wife is a social media powerhouse. Yeezy’s beef with Taylor Swift has also been the highlight of this year with the release of “Famous” from his The Life of Pablo album. With tickets as low as $25, I couldn’t pass up a chance to hear Yeezuz live and see if his loco side comes out on stage.* Mr. West did not disappoint. Here is what you can expect from The Saint Pablo Tour:

Opening Performance by: N/A

Kanye loves Kanye. You’d think he’d have someone open for him? Use that extra hour to buy drinks and snacks. He’ll also start about an hour and a half to 2 hours late.

Best Seats: Not Floor Seats

Yeezuz performs on a floating stage that moves above the standing floor audience. It seemed as though the floor audience was having a great time, but I’m sure there were times they could only see the bottom of the stage.

Hate Yeesus Cristo all you want, but you can’t deny that he is a great performer. He sounded amazing and brought great energy. His dancing skills are similar to Drake’s but he was ultimately vibin’ with the crowd.  Everyone (and I mean everyone) was on their feet dancing. During “I Love Kanye,” he laid down, dangled his head over the side of the stage, and sung to the floor audience — que cute!

Intermission: N/A

The guy is a one-man show and will take a 1-2 minute break after about 15 songs.

Rants: Minimum

He made few smart remarks at Taylor Swift during his song “Famous” and briefly spoke about the Black Lives Matter Movement. In total, he “ranted” for about 3-5 minutes.

Encore: N/A

No encore, but this should not surprise you

Overall

I was highly impressed by Kanye and ultimately glad that I didn’t let my opinion of his antics affect my decision to watch him perform. I enjoyed the diversity of the audience — not sure if this is a Miami thing. I wished I could have gone to the Drake concert for a comparison.**

Until next time! 🐰💭
